FAQ - Accommodation
We have several kinds of accommodation on different tours.
- Our homebase is Saltvík farm, which is an old farmhouse with 6 bedrooms. 4x twin, 1x triple and 1x quad. At Saltvík we’ll have made up beds. Facilities are shared. Outside we have 2 very nice hottubs for relaxing our muscles after riding. Next to the hottubs is a bathhouse with a changing room and showers.
- On some tours we stay 1 or more nights in mountain huts. Often those huts just have 1 big room with a long table in the middle, and bunkbeds on the sides. We sleep in sleeping bags and the toilet is often in a separate outhouse.
- Most accommodation away from Saltvík is something in between our farm and the mountainhuts. Sometimes made up beds, sometimes sleeping bags. 2-4 person bedrooms. Mostly the facilities are shared.
- During our winter tours and the Saltvík Comfort tours, we’re staying all nights at the ‘new’ guesthouse at Saltvík farm. These rooms have private bathrooms and made up beds.
You will find a page on this website with some pictures of the accommodation under “about us” – See here
This depends on the tour completely. Our Diamond Circle Tour sleeps all nights at Saltvík, except for 1 night in the mountain hut. Other tours sleep in different farmhouses or huts, or a mixture. See the tour descriptions for more info about this, or simply contact us about this by email.
This is only an option for our winter tours (feb/march) and the Saltvík Comfort tour. And only when there is availability. Contact us for more info.
No. When we’re out on the trails/ride, we’ll be out in nature and often in the middle of nowhere, where there are no toilets. As Iceland hardly has any trees, you’d better be prepared to just “use the bathroom” behind your horse, or a rock or something like that 😉
You’re welcome to use your own sleeping bag, but we do provide sleeping bags for all guests as well.
