The meeting point is at Eagle air airport in the morning for a flight up north to Húsavík airport.

We start the ride at farm Landamót and ride up along river Skjálfandafljót to farm Eyjardalsá located at the river banks.

On the way home to our accommodation at Saltvík farm, we‘ll spend some time visiting Goðafoss waterfall nearby!

We ride along the river Skjálfandafljót through one of Iceland’s longest valleys; Bárðardalur. The ride ends at farm Mýri which for centuries has been the „gate“ to the highlands for travelers crossing the remote Sprengisandur trail.

We stay overnight at a nice guesthouse nearby.

We head up to the wilderness following the trail used by Icelanders since settlements. Peace and quiet get a new meaning while riding by lake Ishólsvatn and up along the valley Mjóidalur until we come to our resting point at Fossgilsmosar near Kiðagil Canyon.
After the ride, we drive by bus back to our guesthouse for another night.

We ride across Sprengisandur desert following the „Stonemen“; old waypoints used before times of GPS and maps! The glaciers Vatnajökull, Tungnafellsjökull, and Hofsjökull shine in the distance if the sky is clear and give the surroundings a special glimpse as guardians of the highlands. We come to Laugafell, an oasis in the desert with green fields and hot springs in the middle of nowhere. A dip in the hot pool is well deserved after the long ride through the desert.
We stay overnight at a mountain hut sharing one big room. Every guest gets a mattress and a sleeping bag for the night.

We get up early to feed the horses and after breakfast, we saddle up and ride down to Skagafjörður. The ride ends at Þorljótsstaðir farm deep in the valleys of Skagafjörður.
We stay at the farm overnight in an old farmhouse.

Today we ride down the valley Vesturdalur along the glacial river Jökulsá until we come to Sveinsstaðir farm where the tour ends.

After breakfast, a bus is waiting to take all guests back to Reykjavík. ( 4 hours drive)
